  Lavender Town Pokémon Tournament! [PC]
Posted by: Pika~Boo74 - 08-21-2014 11:28 AM - Replies (1)

Hello there Lavender Town members, and guests alike! I've been planning a small event like this for a while now, and I finally have all of the necessities to make it happen! (The most important being a faster internet connection, which I finally got a while back) So hopefully without further delay, here we have, the Lavender Town Pokémon Tournament!

Now, this tournament will not be for the 3DS titles, Pokémon X and Y, or any of the Pokémon titles on the DS. This tournament will hopefully be available to some more people because it will be on PC! That's right, we'll be using Pokémon Showdown!

There are two well-known battle simulators that are commonly used by the more competitive players in Pokémon (Pokémon Online and Pokémon Showdown), but they're also used somewhat by the casual players looking to have some fun!

So, here's how things went down regarding software choice. Upon further inspection, it's clear that Showdown is more fleshed out than Pokémon Online, works more smoothly, and is an overall improvement to Pokémon Online's simulation engine. So, if you're planning on participating, you should likely download Pokémon Showdown. If you're used to Pokémon Online, this should certainly NOT be a big change!

[Image: pokiman_chaudaun_logo_by_jonyxmass-d71eqkg.png]

So, how will you get the Pokémon? For those unfamiliar with the software, here's how it works: You are allowed to pick from over 700 Pokémon in the Team Builder. You can choose practically ANY Pokémon (read down below in the "Restrictions" for more info) and give them ANY moves, as long as they're moves that Pokémon can actually learn. You can give them practically ANY item (again, read "Restrictions" below for more details) and then you can battle it out with other people!

Onto how the tournament will play out. There are very limited spaces, so first come, first serve. The tournament bracket with all of the names will be uploaded as soon as all the players sign up. "How many players will be participating?" you may be asking. Well, kind stranger, I'll tell you! For this first tournament, there will be ONLY 4 spots available. No more than 4, unfortunately. 2 will battle against one another, 1 will move on. Another 2 will battle against each other, 1 more will move on. Those who lose will battle each other for 3rd place, and those who win will battle each other for 1st and 2nd place! I will be spectating the battle to see how it unfolds and I will be personally congratulating the winners who will move on.

So Pika, mind telling us what the benefits of winning the Tournament are? Well, I wish I could, but it's a secret for now. Only the 1st place winner will be receiving a prize in this tournament, so anyone who participates should definitely try their best to win that prize! Big Grin

Here are the restrictions I've placed on what Pokémon can and can't be used -
RESTRICTIONS
  • Shiny Pokémon - ALLOWED
  • Mega Evolutions - ALLOWED
  • Legendary Pokémon - PARTIALLY ALLOWED
  • Held Items - ALLOWED
  • Berries - NOT ALLOWED

The legendary Pokémon allowed are any who utilize Mega Stones for Mega Evolution. This only includes Mewtwo.

For now, that is all of the information I have that is necessary for this tournament. A sign-up thread is available in the >Pokémon Trade and Battle Station< Forum. For any questions, comments, or concerns, feel free to PM me directly or post a reply in this thread! Thanks for reading, and hope you participate!

~Pika

  Well, here we are!
Posted by: Pika~Boo74 - 08-03-2014 02:26 AM - Replies (2)

Well, fellow members of the Lavender Town community, I guess the time has come. We have grown together as a whole, and unfortunately in the process, have also collapsed to what we are now. Amazingly, we've been able to keep these forums alive, despite all of the troubles it's gone through. And now, the ultimate loss - the creator of the forums has left us. I've been left in charge of the forums, and trust me, it's an honor to be in this position. I will try my best to make these forums the best accommodation for all of those who are here, and any potential visitors in the future. There are certainly no guarantees as to whether or not it will return to its former stance as one of the leading creepypasta sites on the internet (I'm referring to The 6th Floor, here), but there is no reason not to try!

With this short message, I bid you all a thank you, and I hope you will be able to see me as an Umbreon effective leader on the forums!

  Website closure
Posted by: Zukdeen - 08-02-2014 09:52 PM - Replies (1)

It has finally been done. The Lavender Town website, just like the previous news post announced, is now gone. However, the forums will remain online and active as long as it has active users posting there. Please note that the new URL ends with .x10.mx (lavendertown.x10.mx). While the previous URL will redirect here until September, it will stop working, so we'd recommend that you change your bookmarks to the new URL.

Starting on today, my position will change to that of the "Technical Administrator". I'll take care of the technical stuff (servers, plugins) but will stop contributing as much as I did before. Sprinkles has resigned from his position as Secondary Administrator, and finally, Pika#-Boo has been promoted to Global Moderator, to help take care of the forums. I will still visit and post from time to time, but the heavy "work" is now on Pika's behalf. Congratulations!

The forum will have some small changes to accommodate to it being the main feature of this site. For example, the Portal has been activated again, and it will show forum announcements AND general news posts from the reporters. Custom themes are temporarily out of service, having only the main one and the mobile one. Affiliates, feel free to remove our buttons from your websites, and thanks for your support.

Finally, thanks again for believing in us for so long. The website is gone, but you can still use the forums. I'm sorry for all the inconveniences and all the problems this involves, but this was the best thing to do, considering my position. I don't doubt on working on this again in the future, and the Lavender Town community will still be online, but for now, the website is gone.

Thank you.

Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire Trailers
Posted by: Mixie - 06-29-2014 10:06 PM - Replies (4)

Greetings fellow Pokemon fans! As you all know by now there are Hoenn remakes in the works. Here are some trailers for the upcoming games:

Trailer #1
Trailer #2

Along with those a map of Hoenn has also been released. The trailers above show off some new gameplay of the upcoming games. It isn't a surprise that it'll be using the same game engine as X and Y so it does strike a resemblance to the aforementioned games. Anyways 3 more megas have been confirmed with the two trailers above. Two of the Megas are pretty much a given, Mega Swampert and Mega Sceptile. Mega Swampert gains the ability Swift Swim and keeps its original typing of Water Ground. Mega Sceptile gains the ability Lightning Rod and will have the typing of Grass/Dragon. The third mega is Mega Diancie, which might be hinting at a possible Diancie event coming in the near future. Along with some new Megas came the reveal of Primal formes, one for Groudon and one for Kyogre. It seems that a new feature called Primal Reversion causes these formes to happen, however full details on the feature itself is not known at the moment.

And to end this post there was a reveal of yet another mega forme. This time Sableye is the lucky one. It doesn't change all that much appearance wise but it gains a giant jewel which it uses as a defensive tool (it'll have an increased Defense and Special Attack states but it'll have decreased speed). It'll have the ability Magic Bounce and will retain its Dark/Ghost typing.

Lavender Town and the Administration Bid you all farewell - A final update
Posted by: Sprink - 06-28-2014 08:32 PM - Replies (53)

I just finished a short conversation with Zukdeen, and I can't say I was surprised of the results. Since most of us have already went their own way, and Zukdeen's heading off to College, we both felt that it's time we close our doors. While it's been a long road for most of us, the road going in one singular direction ends here, for now we all must take our separate ways.

Still, I'd like to thank you all for being here. Especially for tolerating me through it all.

The Forum is currently ticking to its end, as Zukdeen will not renew the domain, so it will be deactivated in September.

In the meantime, here's my contact info for those who would like to keep in touch:

Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire announced
Posted by: Sprink - 05-07-2014 02:13 PM - Replies (4)

Originally posted elsewhere by Mapsal, Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire were officially announced by the Pokemon youtube channel.

Here's the video:

What are your thoughts on these games? Some are calling them sequels, but I believe that they're remakes. Pokemon's aimed demographic were either too young, or not even alive when the original R/S/E games hit, so it's the perfect platform for them to experience the Gen III games in their entirety, and with an updated engine.

  Default post style
Posted by: Zukdeen - 04-18-2014 10:51 PM - No Replies

Today, a new function has been uploaded to the forums and is already working now. It's something some of the users have previously asked for, and we hope you enjoy it and use it from now on: the possibility to set a default style for your posts directly from your User Control Panel!

Now, if you go to your User control panel and click the link "Default Post Style" under Miscellaneous, you can add BBCode and common text to the tag "{MESSAGE}", which will be replaced with your message in every new post you make, unless you directly set changes.

This very post has been made using the new functionality. Keep in mind that, in order to update the style, you need to pay a sum of 500 Lavenders (NOT for each post, but for each time you update the default style). We hope you find this new function useful and we'd like any feedback.

A note: Please, refrain from using the Large or XX-Large text size as your default size, or make your text illegible or uneasy to the eyes. We'll change your default style if that happens, and further violations to this rule may be worthy of warning points. That is all.

New theme, more website integration and spoilers.
Posted by: Zukdeen - 04-12-2014 03:03 PM - Replies (2)

Hello. Since April 10th we've been introducing some noticeable changes here in the forums, that have been compiled to be formally announced on this post. We have a brand new theme for the forums that this time matches the website theme completely and has been written from scratch, more integration within the website, a new spoiler button and also shop addons.

Theme: One Year

It wasn't ready on time for the real anniversary, but now we have a forum theme that, for the first time, matches completely the website theme (header, footer and general appearance), and has been written totally from scratch by me. It's been thoroughly tested for some time, but it might have some errors that you can report if you find in the Feedback Zone.

Website integration

To promote and publicize the forum more within the website, we've added a new box to the left sidebar that now shows the 8 newest threads and the 8 latest posts that have been made, aiming to attract potential users to the website and show off the forum's content.

Spoiler button

Spoilers have been a long time function of the forums ever since they were introduced in 2010, but now, we've added an "S" button for it in the new thread/new post editor. If you click it, it'll automatically wrap the text you select into the spoiler tags. It's just a little addon that might be useful to some. Remember to use the S button now!

And finally, we've added some more items and restocked others to the shop, so you can enjoy it better. Soon, though, we'll bring brand new functions to it.

That's been all for now. Thanks for reading!
